INFOCoppers American Gin™ is distilled with wild juniper berries, hand-picked in northern Vermont. The coriander and licorice root build on this base, with orange peel and cardamom pods rounding out the body to form a unique, American-style Gin. The idea was to distill a spirit which would be recognizable to gin lovers and made with local botanicals using our own small-batch production techniques. The result is an incredibly flavorful traditional gin, deserving of minimal alteration.85 Proof (ABV 43%)

TASTING NOTES

85 proof clear gin that is warm and pleasantly spiced. Fragrant herbal aroma, rich in spicy citrus and juniper and a heavy hit of cardamom. On the palate the spice continues with notes of ground black pepper and orange peel on the mid-palate. A juniper-led, medium length finish. 85 proof

COCKTAIL

Blueberry Basil American Gin Spritzer

This is probably Don’s favorite craft cocktail to make. (You should ask him!) The use of cocktail shrub introduces a whole new flavor profile to an otherwise ordinary spritzer. Blake Hill makes a selection of botanical shrubs, but we’re partial to Blueberry-Basil.

We prefer Coppers American Gin, but if you wanted a slightly sweeter cocktail, you could try this with Coppers Sugarwood Gin. Either way, this might just be your new fave.

The Basics
Our favorite gin, plus shrub, lemonade and soda water.

Mixology
A shrub is a concentrated liquid, usually made with berries, florals and herbs. You might here it called a “drinking vinegar” because vinegar is its base. Shrubs add a punch of flavor and are great ways to explore your favorite spirits and try them in new ways. Blueberry Basil American Gin Spritzer
Elements
2 ounces Coppers American Gin
1 bar spoon Blake Hill Basil-Blueberry Shrub
3 ounces lemonade
Soda water to taste
Instructions
In a highball glass full of ice, combine the first 3 ingredients, then fill the rest of the glass with soda water. Roll in a second glass until shrub is mixed throughout. Garnish with lemon, blueberries, basil, or whatever makes you happy.
