Waxhouse No.008 Tasting Notes
Official tasting notes
Nose: Cola, baked fruit.
Palate: Dark chocolate, kola cubes, cloves and shortbread
Finish: Tobacco, redcurrant jelly and nutmeg.
Ed's review
Colour: Deep amber, like loose-leaf tea. Coats the glass thickly with tears that develop slowly.
Nose: Caramel with rich butter noisette and brown sugar. Autumnal red apples. Sherried fruits and macerated berries. Oak and wood spice.
Palate: Full mouthfeel, thick and coating. Rich, dark fruits, with blackcurrant, cherries, and plums. Dark fruit and nut chocolate. Caramel and molasses. Alcohol is well integrated adding to the body. That said, it can easily take a few drops of water to unlock further flavour.
Finish: Medium to long finish with dark fruits fading through warm spice into red apples and oak.
Overall: Big, bold, flavoursome - this is a real treat and a rather unusual one at that.

About this Waxhouse release
Distilled at Milk and Honey, this is a rather unusual dram: an Israeli whisky. In Israel's hot climate the whisky matures far quicker than an equivalent cask in Scotland. As a result, the flavours are well beyond what one may expect from a three year old whisky. It packs a bold flavour punch, and is a great dram to sit and unpick on a cold night.
